This month marked the bill filing deadline in Springfield. As we move into the legislative session, Representative Suzanne Ness remains committed to working in a bipartisan manner to advance practical, commonsense solutions that address affordability and strengthen our community.

🔹 Key Bills Sponsored & Co-Sponsored

HB4248 – Algorithmic Pricing Transparency Act
Regulates “surveillance pricing” by requiring transparency when online sellers use consumer data to personalize prices.

HB1146 – Plastic Bag Reduction Act
Creates a statewide phase-out of single-use plastic carryout bags to reduce waste and protect the environment.

HB1314 – County Ethics Commission
Allows local governments to establish ethics commissions to strengthen accountability and transparency.

🔹 From Springfield

Last week was productive in Springfield — meeting with local mayors and village presidents, co-chairing the Conference of Women Legislators, and reviewing the Governor’s proposed budget.

🔹 Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Tariff Decision

Representative Ness welcomed the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision striking down significant tariffs that raised costs for American families, manufacturers, and small businesses — calling it a step in the right direction for easing financial burdens.
